“When a man starts talking about his mother while drinking neat gin, he is past all argument.”

G69 London Dry Gin:
A Tale of Rebellion and Resilience

G69’s story begins in 1669 along the windswept shores of the Isle of Skye. On this rugged Scottish island, local distillers first toyed with juniper and wild herbs—crafting spirited concoctions that glowed with the defiance coursing through their veins. While the rest of Britain grappled with crushing taxes on spirits, the Skye distillers quietly perfected techniques that would outfox the excise men lurking along the coastline.

As the 1700s dawned, Parliament piled on new levies to rein in the so-called “madness” of gin. Yet these pressures only stoked the stubborn resolve of illicit distillers across the Isles. Inspired by tales of mysterious “moonrakers” in Wiltshire—smugglers who claimed to be fishing the reflection of the moon to hide barrels of contraband gin—these Isle of Skye rebels devised their own ruses to move their juniper-laced cargo off the island. By day, they were fishermen, crofters, or traveling merchants. By night, they banded together to load crates of their spirit onto rickety skiffs, gliding past watchful royal patrols under moonlit skies. Word spread that a new wave of gin, vapor-infused with local botanicals, was finding safe harbor in taverns as far south as London.

Despite the Crown’s best efforts—cascades of new regulations and ever-watchful “gaugers”—the spirit of Skye’s mavericks thrived. Much like the Wiltshire moonrakers, the Highland distillers cherished the thrill of outsmarting the taxman. They told stories of bold raids and hair’s-breadth escapes, where one wrong turn could lead to a confrontation in a moonlit pass. Some spoke of the time a patrol chased them through a remote glen, only to find empty barrels hidden under kelp along the rocky shore. Others recounted how entire villages would feign ignorance when asked about “the devilish contraband brew,” while enjoying a generous dram behind closed doors.

In the face of these cat-and-mouse battles, G69’s early forebearers refused to bow. They improved their methods, shifting from simple pot stills to advanced vapor infusion, ensuring each botanical contributed subtle layers to the spirit. Thanks to their cunning and craft, a secret legacy of defiance began to form—a legacy that was passed down (often orally, among trusted circles) until the modern era, when G69 was reborn in tribute to those fearless innovators.

But today, G69 isn’t just a whisper of the past—it’s a roar of the present. It’s the electric pulse of the dancefloor, the golden glow of a late night rendezvous, the drink of rule-breakers and pleasure-seekers. Born from centuries of defiance but crafted for those who own the night, G69 is more than gin—it’s a rebellion in a glass. One shot, and the night is yours. Embrace the thrill, sip seduction and chase the night.
